Frogive me, did you say frog chair?

This is a nice example of the type of custom work I handle for Cowpainters. This chair was commissioned by a Chicago suburban United Way as part of a fundraiser. I also designed the dragonfly bench in the first photo for the same project.

Make me an ox!

This little ox was commissioned in 2009 for a Year of the Ox project.

on the Mark. Rothko.

A recreation of Rothko's "Saffron, 1957". The band of light in this painting made us feel like there was a sunrise anytime we wanted to see one. Final destination: Redmond WA.

Petunia Porker

This charming little pig was commissioned as a birthday present.

Logos Please!

A client contacted Cowpainters wanting a very special birthday present for her father. I did a number of design sketches for her. She chose the plaid blanket design, sketch shown above. Recreating the feel of the logos on the three dimensional surface was quite a challenge, but with the help of a digital projector and the warp tool in photoshop, I finally conquered it!

Hokusai Great Wave Mural

Shown in progress here, I recreated the Hokusai Great Wave woodblock print as an interior mural. The dimensions were approximately 6ft long by 4 ft tall.

Great Dane Sculpture

A Cowpainters client in Utah commissioned a great dane sculpture for a public art project. Our usual sculptors just couldn't get it right, so I volunteered to try. Although a relative newbie at sculpting, the client was very pleased with the result. This is the final clay version before the dog was molded. In further exciting news, it was the fiberglass great dane that stole the show at their auction. Decorated by a local artist, the highest bid was over 35K.

Warhol Inspired Horse

A custom painted Thoroughbred for a client who loves the Warhol flower prints. A very rough photoshop sketch and some samples got us underway. Because I was looking to recreate the feel of the print, the final black layer of paint was applied with a tape masking. I researched the pigments--no surprise, Andy just used basic screen printing inks. The end result is eye-popping.

Carousel Sketch Book

A few sketches for a proposed carousel in Maryland. These were the first round drafts, to have something for the client to show during his proposal.
